Memory Bay

This header was an interesting journey. The concept was simple: D. wanted a photo of a bay (or similar feature) with a lighthouse. Piece of cake, right?

Nope. I couldn’t find a single (free) photo - this was for a free header - that I thought was appropriate. Then I remembered that my husband and I had taken a trip to Canada a few years ago and had visited Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia.

On a sidenote: though small, this is a wonderful photo album of picturesque Peggy’s Cove. For the history and more photos, visit Peggy’s Cove Today.

Back to the header: I found two photos that I thought had possibilities and scanned them into my computer. I lifted only the lighthouse from the first photo. I then copied the second photo and flipped one copy so it was a mirror image. (Can you tell by looking at the header?) I found a suitable background location for the lighthouse and re-sized it accordingly. I then had to freehand paint out some lines and glares in the sky and water. Finally, I chose the font and colors and decided on a layout for the blog title and tag line. I installed the header and even helped D. to change over to the new Blogger. In the end, we were both pleased with the new look of Memory Bay.
