Featured Friday - Mompreneurs Online
by revka ~ May 16th, 2008. Filed under: Featured Friday.Linda and I had a wonderfully productive business meeting on Wednesday. We came up with some new strategy and product ideas, set some incredibly scary goals (also to be shared soon), and had some light bulb moments. One of those light bulb moments was our realization that, instead of trying to provide website and blog designs that would appeal to the masses, we needed to narrow our demographic focus. Although we welcome business from nearly everyone, from here on we have determined to focus on mommy bloggers and work-at-home clients (particularly women).
Today’s Featured Friday highlights Mompreneurs Online, a wonderful resource for women everywhere. This website was created by Pat Cobe and Ellen Parlapiano, co-authors of the Mompreneur books. They are the ones who coined the term “mompreneurs” and have been considered field experts for over a decade.
“Great!” you think, “These women are talented and know women entrepreneurs, but what does their site offer me?” A wealth of information and help!
- While not plentiful, the articles written by various Mompreneurs are worth reading and include such gems as 10 Steps to Starting Up, Business Plan Basics, Success Secrets, and How to Make Money at Home.
- The forum is a “must join” for WAHMs. I especially like that you can view articles without having to join or login. If you are not sure about joining a forum, go browse, and you will see why I highly recommend that you do join.
- You may also be interested in visiting the various blogs written by mompreneurs in different lines of business, or you may wish to browse their shop, an “On-line Mall Featuring Mom-Owned Businesses.”
Mompreneurs Online is certain to be one of my favorite sites, and I hope you take the time to explore it as well.

Angela,
Thanks for turning me onto MompreneursOnline, it looks like a great place for moms all over to come together and talk shop, network and advertise their businesses. Isn’t incredible to see the opportunities the internet can provide us? It’s the greatest medium we’ve ever had to expand and grow our businesses not only nationally, but globally! And with all this growth happening in the world of online business, women will find themselves in need of advice, guidance, and help with the next step. That’s why these sites are so incredibly beneficial. For the women out there who have found trouble transitioning into the internet world, I would just like to bring attention to Office Live Small Business. It’s brand new from Microsoft, and it’s got everything a small business owner could ever need in the process of creating and maintaining an online presence. It’s basically a one-stop shop, with an organized e-mail platform that’s great for sending out newsletters (it even checks the status of sent messages), and traffic status updates. You can even make a professional website all on your own! I don’t know the first thing about web design and I created a fabulous page for myself!
There’s more information at http://smallbusiness.officelive.com
I really recommend you and your readers check it out. More now than ever, women out there are starting home based businesses, and unfortunately, a good number of them have yet to discover the incredible opportunities the internet can afford. That’s why I thought I would let everyone know about OLSB. Please give it a try, and send me an e-mail at k-rosenberg@live.com. I work with Microsoft and would be more than happy to answer any questions you or your readers may have! Thank you for posting this article, and informing me of MompreneursOnline. I’ll sign up right now!
Best,
Kimberly
